In November, light-up events start at various places in Kyoto City.
We introduce an event using Japanese candles that will be held on November 10.
It's an event called "Power of Light Shingyo Dento Sai - Dream, Hope, Future -" to commemorate the 140 year anniversary of Shimogyo Ward.
From 17 to 19 o'clock on the day, the "lawn yard" and "Suzaku no Niwa" in Umekoji Park will be lit with Japanese candles.
Japanese candle is one of the traditional industries in Kyoto.
About 3000 Japanese candles are used in this event!
These Japanese candles are used at temples and shrines in Shimogyo Ward is reused and revived.
Why don't you spend a peaceful time looking at the swaying flame under the clear autumn sky?
On that day, Kyoto Aquarium "the Countryside of Kyoto" area and Kyoto Railway Museum "Roundhouse platform" area in Umekoji Park will be open to the public for free, so please check them out as well.
*Open for free: Kyoto Aquarium open from 18:30 to 20 o'clock, Kyoto Railway Museum open from 18 to 20 o'clock (The last entrance is until 19:30).
