Since the Heian Period, the Aoi Festival has been divided into three rituals, "Kuuchuu No Gi", "Roto No Gi", and "Shato No Gi".
The most notable is "Roto No Gi"!
It's a spectacular festival with more than 500 attendants clad in Heian aristocratic costumes, walking roughly 8 kilometers from Kyoto Imperial Palace to Shimogamo Shrine and Kamigamo Shrine .
Immerse yourself in the refined atmosphere while being captivated by the vibrant costumes.
And definitely, don't take your eyes off the "Saio-dai", the heroine of the entire event.
