It is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku "Rokkakudo Choho-ji Temple".
"Flower arrangement master Ikenobo" has served as the head priest for generations and is known as the "Birthplace of Ikebana".
The "Ikebana Museum" on the third floor of the Ikenobo Hall adjacent to Rokkakudo, held a folding screen festival during the Gion Matsuri Festival.
It is a special opening in summer to inherit the custom of Gion festival, and it is an opportunity to show the folding screen which is handed down in Ikenobo.
This year, instead of holding the event at the museum, a video of the folding screen festival was shown on the YouTube channel of the flower arrangement master Ikenobo.
Why don't you take this opportunity to enjoy the treasures of the ikebana museum at home?
In the end of Edo period, the historical fact that the lottery of Yamahoko Junko was held in Rokkakudo is introduced.
"Hi-ogi" which is effective for warding off evil, is a flower of Gion Matsuri Festival that is displayed in Yamahokocho.
From July 16 to 17, Hi-ogi pieces will be displayed at the Ikebana Museum.
*The tour requires advance reservation. For details, please check the official website of flower arrangement master Ikenobo.
I want to think about the traditional events of summer in Kyoto, which is facing the Gion Matsuri Festival that has never been seen before.
