Great awareness "Education, Parenting and Family"
Last month, Book Cafe Keihoku was held at Syu's Bar, so I participated. The book cafe's theme is "Education, Parenting and Family in the Future".Based on the experiences of the participants and the cases introduced in the book, we exchanged various opinions on the theme. This is the first time I've participated. It was very interesting and I learned a lot from it. (Ms. Tokiwa the organizer of the book cafe.) Lately, I've been into Adlerian psychology, which thinks of everything in terms of teleology, and basically rejects etiology such as like trauma and so on.For example, let's say you have a child who has truant not want to go to school. If you think about it in an etiology way, the reason the kid became truant is because that he was traumatized by being bullied in a class at school. (There are many possible causes.)If you think about it in a teleology way, the truant child is choosing by himself not to go to school because the child is afraid to get being bullied again. ("I can't go because I'm afraid" → I choose not to go because I'm afraid.)In the theory of causes, we depend on others and events that we cannot help ourselves, such as others and past events.Teleology focuses on how we recognize and act on the events of the past.In other words, it is up to you to take things. In this way of thinking, I like the idea of Adlerian psychology because I have the discretion of my life in this way. This time, however, I had the opportunity to participate in the Book Cafe, which changed my way of thinking. I had to change.Trauma can be unconscious and its existence cannot be denied, and human psychology is quite complex, so it's not that simple. Especially in the parent-child relationship, I think there are many challenges because of the close relationship. There were a lot of interesting stories at this book bar, but I'd like to share with you a story that impressed me. The following story I want share especially the parent who both working. the storyThe two-income family had two boys, and older boy was a trouble maker. The older boy was almost expelled from school after an incident when he was in high school. So, the mother managed to avoid dropping out of school by a promise that she and her boy go to a psychological counselor regularly.(In the meantime, the younger boy was very easy and was a like a healer for his mother.)At each counseling session, the mother and child would go to separate counseling sessions, but each time they would talk about nothing.Counselor: "How are you feeling lately? Do you have a favorite food? It was just a matter of having a casual everyday conversation with him. They drove tow hours every month for a few months to go to that counseling session just chatting with the counselor. But somehow the child's problematic behavior was gone and he was able to graduate school.Since he was able to graduate, the mother and child went to see the counselor to thank for helping them.Mother: "Thank you very much for everything. Thanks to your help, my child was able to graduate. Can you tell me, how your counseling has worked my son in a positive way?"Counselor: "I haven't done anything in particular. You and your son spent the two hours in the car together, talking and spending two hours together a round trip to get here. That worked on your son.Spending time together... The child has become a respectable member of society. But This time, his younger brother, who was a healer for his mother, has become seriously ill.... The story end. That's was huge impact on me.Spending time together... Parenting time is very important.I'm not spending time with my children enough. I should!!(For the time being, I played the role of a customer in my daughter's shop play.) I thinkWhoever a child or an adult, if a person doesn't know how to express things, then I think the person will get some kind of output in an unintended way like a sick or problematic behavior.I think even when I look at my daughter's strange behavior or habits which I think not good but these are done unconsciously to try to get parent attention. In this Corna virus situation, many people doing teleworkingand I think this is a great opportunity for families to spend time together more.I should face my family with this mind!Book Cafe Keihoku was really great. I will definitely participate there again.Even if you don't live in Keihoku, you can participate in this event. The last Wednesday of each month is Book Bar Keihoku at Syu's bar.Check it out below for more information.---------.Please check a Facebook page for more information about Book Cafe Keihokuku.Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/BookCafeKEIHOKU/Cuisine Ryokan SushiYoneTel: 075-852-0032Address: 15-2 Shimogaichi, shuzan-cho, Keihoku, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto-shi, Kyoto 601-0251http://www.sushiyone.net/ Please read the other article about Sushiyone and Syu's Bar as well.

Protect the forest with little tricks
The other day, I participated in the "technical training to protect the forest road surface with little tricks" in the Kyoto-city forest in Keihoku, which was organized by the forest management group and Kyoto City.In recent years, torrential rains have caused mountain slopes landslides all over Japan. This time, before such a large-scale disaster occurs, we are trying to protect the mountain by using little tricks such as planting trees and using civil engineering techniques on the slightly collapsed slope to prevent disaster. The lecturer was Mr. Takada, a forest advisor for Kyoto City, and civil engineering companies stuff and a local lumberjack.・Little trick 1Appropriate planting speciesEach tree species have a suitable place, so we planted trees in suitable areas for each species.Documents I got on the event. It shows where to plant which species./Key points for planting trees・Plant three trees in one placeThis allows the tree to compete with other trees and grow faster than planting a single tree.In addition, two out of three trees can die, so it's a risk hedge as well.Planting three plants should be done with a good balance of lighting and other factors.Plant two trees on the south side, plant one in between, etc.・Observe the seedlings carefully before plantingIn some cases, the stem of the seedling is bent, so it is easier for them to grow if they get planted in a similar environment in which they were originally grown. Also, larger seedlings roots may be curled up in seedling pots, so you should untie them.・Harden the soilAfter planting, harden the soil well to prevent it from falling out. You can check by pulling them out if you can it's not hard enough.・Protect the seedlings from fungesWhen planting, make sure that the bacteria in the soil don't get to the roots of the seedlings. If the seedlings' roots are damaged, the seedlings will get sick.・Protect trees from the deerIn areas where there are deer, the tree sprouts are eaten by the deer and die, so I put a net over them. When you put up the net, you should fix the net underneath so then deer cannot get in under the net.・Trees like slopes Garden trees, for example, are planted on a flat surface, but I've heard that trees basically grow stronger when planted on a slope. Because of drainage, and it's natural, etc.Little trick 2Use of expired fire hosesExpired fire hoses are usually just disposed of, but they are still strong enough. It's a great way to reuse them.Little trick 3uses mesh and stakes to prevent further erosion where water flows on the slope.little trick 4Use eco planter. It's made of woodchips that will get decomposed after a while. It looks nice as well. The tree planting is very deep and interesting.I hope that these little tricks will be used in the forests in your area to protect the mountains. And actually.Satoyama Design(our company) and Perspective(company) and local forester are making "Forest of Crafts" project in Kyoto city forest.(Perspective is co-chaired by Ms. Matsuyama, who teaches Japanese traditional crafts(Kogei) to people in Japan and abroad through educational programs, and Mr. Tsutsumi of Tsutsumi Asakichi Lacquer studio, who tries new ways to use lacquer while preserving tradition.)Japanese traditional craftsmanship symbolizes the sustainable relationship between people and nature and between people and their lives. In order to reconnect these relationships, the Forest of Craft proposes a harmonious and sustainable society by creating a platform that connects people with nature and people with people through forest creation and making new items. The first step in the forest is to plant lacquer trees and paulownia trees. (In Perspective, we held a workshop on making lacquered paulownia surfboards in Keihoku last year.)In addition, we are preparing for workshops and other events so that many people can feel closer to the forest. We are planning to hold workshops such as tree planting, charcoal making, wild grass enzyme juice making, woodfired bath, bushcraft, camping, off-grid related thing, eco-DIY, etc. on a regular basis after April, so we would like you to join us.The delightful mates of the Forest of Craft (from left to right, Tonoshita-san, Matsuyama-san and Tsutsumi-san).Sounds like fun, doesn't it?The ladder will be a bridge between you and the forest. LOL.We are looking for individuals who are interested in planting trees and companies who are willing to sponsor the project.Contact Us---------.Perspective, Inc.sachi@prspectiv.co(Matsuyama)orSatoyama Design075-748-103321-3 Nishi Choda, Shuzan-cho, Keihoku, Ukyo-ku, Kyotofukumoto@satoyama-d.comHP: www.satoyama-d.com

landlocked ayu fish seminar
Do you know the life of ayu fish?Ayu fishes swim down to the lower stream in autumn and lay eggs from the midstream to the downstream. The hatchlings go downstream, spend time in the sea and come back to the river in spring. There is Hiyoshi Dam downstream of Kamikatsura River, so ayu in Keihoku cannot swim to the downstream. There are landlocked ayu fishes, which eat plankton and grow in the dam lake instead of the sea.The Rikufu Ayu seminar is at Kyoto City Keihoku community center. If you are interested, please join us.---------Rikufu Ayu SeminarDate: Saturday, February 29, 2020 13: 00 -16: 00Place: Kyoto City Keihoku community center 3F HallKamiterada 1 -1, Keihoku Shuzan-cho , Ukyo Ward, Kyoto CityCapacity: 120Fee: FreeFor details, please visit the following website of Kyoto City.https:://www.city.kyoto.lg.jp/sankan/page/0000263080.html

Buddhism or Shintoism or both?
Today, I participated in the New Year's meeting held in Uno area where I live. There is no community center in the area, so we gather at a temple instead. In the morning, we had a Shinto ceremony with locals. A Shinto priest chanted a Shinto prayer at Hachiman Shrine next to the temple. After the Shinto priest left, locals go into the temple and prepared for the Buddhist ceremony. And a Buddhist monk came and chanted a sutra at the temple. After the ceremony is over hurriedly, the New Year's party began. We enjoyed delicious food and alcohol and deepened the friendship with neighbors. After finned the party, I was invited by my neighbor and had another drink.I drank a bit too much and had a nap.I think the Japanese view of religion is unique or maybe strange.A Buddhist ceremony is held immediately after a Shinto ceremony.Comparing it with other countries, it is like having a celebration of Islam after having a celebration of Christianity. In Shito's belief, we believe that all things have a spirit or deity that's a kind of polytheistic religious belief. Buddha can be a Shinto deity too. That's why Shintoism and Buddhism are coexisting in Japan.(It's not only just this reason though.)If a foreigner asks me, "What religion do you believe in?"Then I would answer "I don't believe in any particular religion, but I'm not an atheist. So I kind of believe in Buddhism and Shintoism ...."It sounds not a clear answer. but I think many Japanese are like that. This view of religion seems to be vague because it is influenced by various factors such as scientific and economic development, post-war education, historical background, and the cult religion incident, and also because Buddhism and Shintoism are too familiar with Japanese life and culture.I like this ambiguous way of belief pretty much.In Keihoku, the area's traditional culture is being lost due to depopulation.I would like to pass this culture down to the next generation. It shouldn't be done ambiguous. In order for the next generation to continue traditional events, it may be necessary to change the style to the present way, which can be done even with a small number of people, with retaining the essential parts.

Yamaguni shrine festival
I was worried about the weather, but yesterday's Yamaguni Festival (Kankōsai) was held with no problems. Many Yamaguni locals participate in the festival. Also many people come back to the area from Kyoto City or from far away to participate in the festival, and immigrants to the area also participate in the festival, which I think is a good opportunity to keep the community strong and get know each other. This festival has been held mainly for residents of 7 villages of Ono-cho, Shimo-cho, Tsuj-cho, To-cho, Torii-cho, Nakae-cho, and Higae-cho.This time, I joined Nakae-cho team as a helper. At noon, we received sacred sake at each village and gathered at Yamaguni Shrine.(The main shrine.)About 70 Mikoshi carriers participated in this year. The Shito priest gave a Shinto ritual prayer and did a ceremony, and then Mikoshi time is started. The Yamaguni party leads the Mikoshi. The unique melody of the flutes the drums sound feel the history. There ware breaks at each village. Softdrinks, sakes, and foods are served there. If I get drunk, I won't be able to carry the Mikoshi, so I tried not to drink too much. It's fun to chat with people who you know or the first time at the break time. These rods called Hoko and they walk in front of Omikoshi. There is a bell at the tip, and they make sound while walking.I tried Hoko. It was heavy and difficult to make the sound of the bell, I had to jump. Omikoshi is lifted up 3 times like tossing it in the air at some points like shrines. You have to be careful not to drop the Omikoshi on your lap.It was completely dark by the time we arrived at Goryo Shrine where the portable shrine is stored. We had a ceremony and finished. It was a very meaningful day that I could feel the tradition and spirit rooted in the region. In the evening, I joined in a after party in Nakae-cho and had sake and a good meal. Today, I'm having comfortable whole-body muscle pain and a slight hangover.I think it's really important to have the festival can keep good culture.I would like to join the festival next year too.
