landlocked ayu fish seminar

Do you know the life of ayu fish?

Ayu fishes swim down to the lower stream in autumn and lay eggs from the midstream to the downstream. The hatchlings go downstream, spend time in the sea and come back to the river in spring.

There is Hiyoshi Dam downstream of Kamikatsura River, so ayu in Keihoku cannot swim to the downstream.
There are landlocked ayu fishes, which eat plankton and grow in the dam lake instead of the sea.
The Rikufu Ayu seminar is at Kyoto City Keihoku community center.
