Keihoku cherry blossom plan
It was a sunny day with no clouds and a pleasant day. When I took a break, I walked to a river near my office, and the plum was in full bloom. The best time to see cherry blossoms in Keihoku is from mid-April to late April, but some varieties are already blooming today!I think it just started blooming a few days ago.It looks like this when I looked at the same cherry tree from away.A weeping cherry nearby looks still like this. It was a warm winter so cherry blossoms might be gonna bloom earlier than usual year.Checked the cherry blossoms information from below. And have a cherry blossom party plan!Satoyama cherry blossom informationSatoyama cherry blossom information 2Keihoku cherry blossom information 3 "Weeping cherry at suspension bridge"Satoyama cherry blossom information 4Satoyama cherry blossom information 5Satoyama cherry blossom information 6Keihoku cherry blossom information 7
Keihoku guide map
Do you like paper maps?I like paper maps rather than google maps when I visit a new place.Google maps is very handy but paper maps have selected useful information. There is a guide map of Keihoku. You can find unknown spots from this map.It would be fun to travel with paper map with no google map.You can get this map at Keihoku society of commerce and industy.
Wood chopping exercise
I use firewoods for the bath boiler and for a woodstove in the room, so I stock firewood all year round. That's why I chop firewoods when I feel like.Have you ever chopped firewood ??It's a good exercise to chop the wood, and it feels good if it split well.Since yoga has a pose of chopping wood, it should be good for physically and mentally. It may be inconsistent with living with firewood, but I'm an efficientist, I think it's the best exercise is to not just maintain health but to live.Especially in the winter, the body gets warmed up.Take aim.Huh!!By the way, I took the photos myself with the self-timer. LolIf someone Looked at the scene of taking my self-portrait, I think I was looked a bit silly. This is my ax.Now I can use it well, but when I was a beginner I broke the handle of it with a bad swing.I fixed it using the broken umbrella handle. It has been almost two years since the fixing, but it is still OK. It doesn't look pretty, but I'm happy with it. because I want to use things as long as I can.You can experience wood chopping in farm guesthouses in Keihoku. So if you have a chance, try it. It's real fun.
Autumn leaves spot
There is a beautiful zen temple called "Joshokoji" in Keihoku. You can enjoy Autumn leaves without crowds. This temple was founded by the retired Emperor Kogon in 1362. Let me share a private Autumn leaves spot "Hiyoshi shrine".(November 16th photo taken)Maples and ginkgo are beautiful. My family got natural high by looking at them.No one is around. So you can do a photo session. If you go up to the road approaching a shrine towards the mountain. You will find the shrine. The shrine is peace and quite.I like this kind of sacred atmosphere that makes me purified. The word from the photo "wish world peace".I wish so too. Come and enjoy private Autumn leaves in Keihoku. Mid-November is good timing.Access is not good, I recommend come there by car.----------Hiyoshi shrineAddress: Kitanotani, Nishi-cho, Keihoku, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto-cityPostal code: 601-0276
The way to enjoy Satoyama at Farm stay "Goemon" ②
Continuing on from the previous blog, I introduce a farm stay accommodation "Goemon. One of the attractions of Goemon is the location, and there are many spots to visit within walking distance.A stained-glass workshop gallery YU, wood Crafts where you can make a chair using wood and rope, Hosenji Temple, and the river with fireflies(late-June to mid-July).You can also rent a bicycle at Goemon. But I think the best attraction is the hosts Masanori-san and Nami-san.They have fantastic hospitality. They are very open-minded and easy to talk with. They used to backpack abroad for a long time when they are young. That time they found a really good guesthouse, so they are trying to make Goemon like that guesthouse. That's why good vibes. The other day, when I visited Goemon, I met an internship student who was staying there for a while. And I asked her that "what do you think about Goemon?".She answered,"It's been a really great experience this experience is like real living in the countryside rather than just experiencing the countryside. Masanori-san and Nami-san taking me everywhere, and I was surprised by their natural interactions with neighbors every day. I've met a lot of interesting persons of their friends, and each conversation is very deep and really fun.I study nutrition at university. It's normal for everyone to eat meals together at Goemon. That is very impressive for me. Because I usually live alone, and from the viewpoint of food education, food is not only nutritional aspects, I think important to have good warm vibes for eating place."(Photo from left: Nami-san, Masanori-san, Kanemoto-san) Masanori-san is very passionate about cultural exchange and has great knowledge, and of course, loves conversion with guests.Guests also love conversion with Masanori-san.Maybe now you could imagine what Goemon is like? And now you can check that I'm telling truth or not by staying at Goemon.----------Goemonaddress:2 Kefe, Shimokumada-cho, Keihoku, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture 601 0272Free transport to Shuzan Bus Terminal (two Parking lots available)Tel: 075-855-1700mobile: 090-8932-8269HP https://www.banja-kyoto.com/goemon
The way to enjoy Satoyama at Farm stay "Goemon" ①
I think the attraction of Keihoku is that traditional Satoyama life still remains. Then, how can we enjoy that!?As an answer to this question, I would like to introduce you to an accommodation facility 'Goemon' where you rent an old private house.I had an interview with the owner of Goemon Mr. Masanori Tanaka and Mrs. Nami Tanaka. As the name Goemon suggests, you can take a bath in Goemonburo (a type of bathtub) heated with firewood.I think it's very rare to bathe in the Goemonburo that will warm you up to the bone.(What you can see in the middle of the picture is the door of Goemonburo's stove.)The attraction is not only Goemonburo. If you stay at Goemon, it covers all the keywords (Irori fireplace, okudosan (fire cooking stove), firewood cutting, firewood stove, Goemon bath, harvesting experience, cooking experience, wells, etc.) country experience that many people imagine. It's fun to stay overnight without meals, rent a house with family and friends, and spend a relaxing time in private.Kitchenware and tableware are prepared so that you can bring in ingredients and cook by yourself. You can feel as if you have a villa of an old private house. If I think so, it's much cheaper to stay at Goemon than a villa.Of course, you can book meals. You can eat homegrown new rice by Mr. and Mrs. Tanaka from the middle of September. So it's a new rice season.Their farm is just one min walk from Goemon, so you can experience harvesting vegetables. Freshly picked vegetables are the best.Have you ever eaten rice cooked with a fire stove? It's really tasty.I recommend you to have a BBQ at the Irori fireplace for dinner.Isn't it great that you can make a charcoal BBQ with your friends inside the house? You don't have to worry about mosquitoes like outside. They will prepare the meat from Tokiwa meat shop, they only sale Japanese A4 or A5 black beef (wagyu) that we introduced on this blog before. In the winter season, the irori fireplace is great for hotpot using seasonal vegetables.Nami-san is a really good cook.If you stay more than 2 nights, they will serve you a special secret menu by Nami-san.Okudosan's okonomiyaki. It's exquisite.Nami-san is from Osaka, so the taste of Okonomiyaki is real. You can enjoy home cooking according to four seasons. This is freshly fried skewers."What are you going to have next? Please have some more." Nami-san says. It's a happy time to serve freshly fried skewers on a plate. It feels good to be in a daze in this kind of life.Nami-san is also a potter, so you can buy her works.Let me introduce you to my friend from Venus. There is an active well. I will introduce more about Goemon in the latter part on the next blog.----------Goemonaddress2 Kefe, Shimokumada-cho, Keihoku, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture 601 0272Free transport to Shuzan Bus Terminal (Parking available)Tel 075-855-1700mobile 090-8932-8269HP https://www.banja-kyoto.com/goemon
Keihoku soul food "Natoo mochi"
Can you guess what's this wooden thing on the photo? This is called "Karausu".We use this tool to thresh grains and pounding mochi(Rice cake) using foot.Using lever rule, this doesn't requied a lot of power to use so even children can use it. Great tool isn't it!?Local NPO "Furusato Keihoku Hokosugijuku" give a mochi making workshop. Members of NPO are senior local masters from Keihoku. They try to carry the local traditions to future generations and vitalizing Keihoku. After pounding mochi, Put natto(fermented soybeans) in it, and put kinako(soybeans powder) around it.Japanese and Korean students joined the workshop this time. They seem to enjoy cultural exchanges.I joined the delicious fun cultural exchange nad had a natto mochi too.Yummy.I had it with brown sugar.Thank you, senior local masters!
